Three steps to a confirmed truck
The whole flow is built to one number: seven line items placed in five minutes.
-
1
Set your destination
Choose a dispatch origin and one of your registered delivery addresses. Freight for that lane is folded into every price on screen — you never read an FCA price and add shipping in your head.
-
2
Fill the truck
Click cells to add volume in 1 m³ increments. The Truckload Meter tracks the load and tells you exactly how many m³ are left to hit 33. Checkout unlocks when the truck is full — not before.
-
3
Confirm, or name your price
Take the listed price and the order goes straight to the desk. Or set a target €/m³ per line and we relay it to the suppliers for you.
For buyers
- Two matrices, one grid. Prompt stock shows available m³ today; production shows the lead time in weeks. Both carry the delivered price.
- The price you were quoted is the price you pay. A line is priced when you add it, and that price is honoured through to confirmation. We absorb any movement underneath.
- Counter-offers land to the cent. Your target €/m³ passes to the supplier as an absolute reduction, so the number you asked for is the number you get — whatever your freight lane costs.
- Your draft survives. Close the tab mid-load and the truck is still there when you come back, with your last origin and destination remembered.
For suppliers
- Ten minutes a day, maximum. Link a sheet or drop a file. A hundred-odd populated cells re-priced in one import — the grid is there for corrections, not for daily data entry.
- You stay anonymous. Buyers see a price and an origin region. They never see which supplier filled the cell, and your purchase orders carry no buyer identity.
- You quote FCA, we do the rest. Freight lanes, landed pricing, the merchant-of-record paperwork and the buyer relationship are ours. You publish an ex-works price and a volume.
- One decision per negotiation. A discount request arrives as a single absolute €/m³ ask against your own price. Accept or refuse — no haggling threads.
Name your price, on any line
Every line on a preliminary order carries an editable target. Leave it blank and you accept the listed price. Fill it in and Wood Matrix works the discount backwards to each supplier's own ex-works number — holding our commission flat in absolute terms, so the ask a supplier sees is the same whether you ship to Milan or to Rotterdam.
Every supplier on the line accepts, and the order confirms at your target exactly. If one refuses, we re-blend from those who accepted and come back once — a second and final offer, yours to take or leave.
| Matrix price | €540 / m³ |
| Your target | €510 / m³ |
| Relayed to the supplier | −€30 / m³ |
| Confirmed at | €510 / m³ |
Landed to the cent, on single-supplier and split lines alike.
Questions we get asked
No. A marketplace lists everyone and leaves you to sort out who is real. Wood Matrix is a closed desk with a small number of vetted suppliers and buyers, and we are merchant of record on every trade — you contract with us, not with a stranger.
Ex-works price plus a 3% commission, plus the flat full-truckload freight rate for your lane divided by the standard 32.8 m³ truck. Currency is EUR throughout.
Because a partial truck is a worse price for everyone. Volumes are entered in whole cubic metres and checkout unlocks on a full load, so the freight you are quoted is the freight you are charged.
Within a dispatch origin, yes — a single line can be filled from more than one supplier and you will see one blended price. Across origins, no: a Baltics truck and a Slovenia truck are separate orders.
FSC is requested at checkout once the truck is composed, rather than filtered cell by cell. It applies to the order, not to individual variants.
Suppliers refresh volumes and prices daily from their own files. Stock is not reserved while you browse — the first confirmed order takes the goods.
Access is by invitation
We onboard a small number of suppliers and buyers at a time so that every cell in the matrix is backed by real, current stock. Tell us which side of the trade you are on.
